Fee Paying Inmate Worker Program

The city of Pasadena Jail offers inmates a fee paying inmate worker program for men and women prisoners who qualify. This program provides an alternative to prisoners to serve time outside of the jail and instead places them in the secure environment of the Pasadena Police Department Jail. If the offender was sentenced with a misdemeanor that is not a drug related case, then they can be admitted. If there is a history of violent offenses, the offender will not be allowed to participate.

The cost to participate in the Fee Paying Inmate Worker Program is 143.00 per inmate per day, and there is a one-time administrative fee of 63.00. All fees are due before admittance into the program by cashier’s check or money order.

Applying for the fee paying worker program is a simple process. Call the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-6415 and request an application. They can then send you the application by mail or fax with twenty-four hours. The offender must then return the application and a current tuberculin skin test by mail or fax. If the inmate meets the qualification, they will be given a date to start serving the sentenced time.

Visitation

Inmates that are on the fee paying inmate worker program may receive visitors on any day of the week from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. To visit an inmate, you must bring a driver’s license or a federal identification card.

Options to Serving Time

There are currently two different ways to serve court mandated time at the Pasadena Jail. An offender may work furloughed time which means they can serve their sentence they can be checked in on weeknights. If they stay twelve hours for two nights they will earn a total of one day or twenty-four hours in jail. They can also serve the time consecutively and stay straight through which may include weekends spent incarcerated.

Good Time/Work Time Credits

Good Time or Work Time credits may be earned during an inmate’s sentence while they are incarcerated if they follow the procedures enforced by the jail. If the inmate has to serve more than eleven days, the judge may assign these credits to the prisoner in court.

Housing

Inmates will be housed with the regular inmate population unless they are in the Fee Paying Inmate Worker Program. If on the program they will have minimal contact with the general population except for meal times. Workers are required by law to spend at minimum four hours of work day outside of their cell doing light chores such as food preparation, laundry, and various cleaning activities.

Parking

Inmates are encouraged to have someone drop them off the Pasadena City Jail. If this is not possible, then there is fee-based parking located in the county building structure.
