General Information for the Marion County Work Release Center
The Marion County Work Release Center is located at 3950 Aumsville Hwy SE in Salem, Oregon. This facility operates 24 hours a day with the ability to house up to 144 residents at any one time. As an alternative program to serving time in jail, this facility has minimum-security supervision. This facility serves as a transition center for inmates between Jail and Probation, which requires offenders to work in waged-based employment or in a community service setting. The money earned from these positions goes to court-ordered fines, restitution, supervision fees and family/child support. Additionally, if inmates are uncooperative within the facility, privileges such as passes, assignments, and rooms are removed, denied, or restricted. Inmates may also be subject to court penalties, expulsion from the program, or serving their sentence in Jail or State Prison.
The Marion County Work Release Center’s initiative is to provide inmates a different option to serving time in jail or prison while also coaching inmates for their release into the community.
