The Hamilton County Juvenile Court Youth Center is located at 2020 Auburn Avenue and was built in 1995. The facility has 164,500 square foot with eighteen units in a multilevel building. Hamilton County Juvenile Court Youth Center serves as a detention center that includes a Court’s Psychological/Psychiatric clinic, several courtrooms, an intervention unit which is a counseling unit, and an intake complaint processing center. The Cincinnati Public Schools provides educational services at the Youth Center. Counseling services are provided by Hamilton County Juvenile Court Psychology Department and Intervention Unit. Youth medical needs are provided by Children’s’ Hospital.

Visitation

Visitors must provide proper identification such as a valid driver’s license or federal identification card and are limited to parents and legal guardians. Parents must follow the rules of the Hamilton County Juvenile Court Youth Center. Nothing is allowed to be given to the youth at the center. It is important to note that parents need to arrive fifteen minutes before the scheduled time of visitation.  If parents arrive fifteen minutes after the start of the time of visitation parents will be unable to visit at that point. Medical Department

The medical department at the Youth Center is available 24 hours a day and health screenings are performed on all new admissions. The initial screening consists of questions to assess current medical conditions such as exposure to STD’s, psychiatric and substance abuse history. The physical assessment is done by physician’s assistant. In addition, to medical treatment provided by the facility, there is also on-site dental services.

Psychology Department

The psychology department is available to provide evaluations at the request of court officials. In addition, psychological assessments are performed on all new admissions to determine if they are at risk for suicidal ideation. The staff will also evaluate residents for psychotic behavior.
