The Ellis County Jail is an 856-bed short-term holding facility. The Ellis County Jail is located at 300 South Jackson St. in Texas. To obtain inmate booking information please contact the Ellis County Jail at (972) 825-4931. Once an inmate is booked into the facility, visitation can then be scheduled.
Visitation at Ellis County Jail
Visitation time and hours are subject to change without further notice. In some cases, waiting times may apply for housing units. Visits are held on a first come first serve basis. Wait times could also affect the availability to sign in. It can take up to 24 hours after arrest for an inmate to be assigned housing. Once in assigned housing an inmate can then receive visitors.
Visitors are allowed 1 visit per day and should sign up prior to visit. Inmates are allowed up to two, 20-minute visits per week. Visitors 18 years or older are required to provide state issued ID to be authorized prior to the visit and presented to a Visitation Officer. Only 2 adults allowed per visit and one child per adult accompanied by a parent or legal guardian per visit. Visitors are expected to behave in an orderly manner. Those who do not will have their visitation denied.

Visitation Dress Code:
The Ellis County Jail asks that you follow the dress code when coming in to visit with an inmate. Anyone who does not follow the dress code will be denied entry for visitation. Visitors must be dressed properly taking care not to wear revealing or provocative clothing.
