Cobb County Jail is made up of three buildings and can house just over 3000 inmates at full capacity. The renovation of the jail was complete in 2010 and is mostly used as a pretrial facility.
Visitation is done by video conferencing
All visits that are done at the Cobb County Jail are done using video conferencing. This type of visitation allows more visitors into the facility. In order to schedule a visit you must call 1-770-852-3798 or 1-770-852-3799. Visitors do not need to go through any type of security screening prior to the visit because they are not coming in direct contact with the prisoner. You can call the number anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days before you want to visit. You must be at least 17 years old and will have your picture taken as well as your fingerprints the first time you visit. Show up at least 10 minutes before your visit so you can become registered. Visits with lawyers and other professionals are also done by video and any taping of these visits is prohibited. Professionals can visit as many times as necessary.
Rules for the visitation center:
- Each visitation session can have up to 4 visitors
- All visitors must be dressed conservatively and appropriately. All shirts must have sleeves and no bare midriffs. Shorts, skirts and dresses can be no higher than two inches above the knee. Shoes must be worn.
- All visitors must have photo identification
- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the center but there are designated smoking centers outside
- Drink and food are allowed in the waiting areas but not in the visitation stations. No alcoholic beverages are allowed at all.
