This facility is a non-secure juvenile forestry camp that has 125 youths between 14 and 18 years old and was adjudicated by the Juvenile Court. Camp Owen had around 450 admissions per year and was designed to be a program that lasts six months but with the regular approximately three months. The youth length of stay is determined by the courts decision based on their current behavior, prior history of, commitment offenses, drug/gang history, criminal activity and academic background. Treatment at this facility is an all-male program. The camps facility provides treatment programs in addition to aftercare services that are provided for those released before the commitment is completed.
Visitation
During visitation at Camp Erwin, there can only be six family members at a time during visitation. A full explanation of visiting policies and procedures and additional information about the camp is obtained during your child’s first visitation, or you may contact their probations officer. All visitors shall abide by guidelines while visiting in the institution for you and your child’s safety. Any visitors who fail to abide by the dress code will not be allowed entry into the camp or if the staff discover any law has been violated visitation will be canceled because of the violation. Any clothes that could be possible gang-related, obscene or offensive, exposed inappropriate body parts, hats, or sharply pointed piercings are not allowed.
Sundays: 10 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.
Group 1 – Authorized visitors are parents or legal guardians for two hours only
Group 2 – Parents, legal guardians, and grandparents from 10 a.m.- 3:20 p.m.
Group 3 – Same as Group 2 also siblings, may visit off Camp, returning by 3 p.m.
