The Detention Center Medical Services facility is available around the clock for emergency medical care. The staff that is employed at the facility is dedicated to giving quality care to any inmate regardless of their ability to pay. They do ask the inmate to contribute $5 for each visit to the health facility for any reason and it is deducted from the inmate’s money account they have. The staff includes a full-time Medical Practitioner as well as a part-time Medical Physician. These two professionals also have a support staff of a variety of nurses and technicians that specialize in critical care. Commissary is a privilege for the inmates
One of the most exciting parts of an inmates stay at the Detention Center is the privilege of being allowed to purchase items from the commissary. An outside vendor handles this service and inmates are allowed to order twice a week from this service. If an inmate wishes to order anything from the commissary, they can do so by using kiosks that are inside the housing areas for the inmates or they can order using the phone system if they choose. They can also use order sheets that are available at the detention center if they choose. The inmate is allowed to order $100/order and delivery is made twice a week according to a schedule that is posted in the facility. They can purchase a variety of items including hygiene products, snacks, over-the-counter medications, some clothing and other various items.
Barber services are available at the Detention Center
Inmates are allowed to get haircuts from a professional barber if they choose. They can get haircuts that cost $8.00 and they can get a shave for $7.00. There is a high demand for this service so inmates must understand that they need to make an appointment and it can take up to 2 weeks before they receive the service. If an inmate can’t afford barber services, they are allowed one appointment every 90 days and it is taken from their account as a debt that will have to be settled upon release.
