Erie County Jail-Holding Center is located in Buffalo, New York. It is a maximum security facility that used for pretrial. As the second largest facility in New York State, it is outside of New York City and has around 640 inmates in custody. Every year, it processes over 20,000 inmates. Any overflow of inmates goes to the Holding Center Annex that is at the Erie County Correctional Facility.

Visitation Information for Erie County Jail – Holding Center
When visiting an inmate, you will go through a metal detector, obtain medical documentation for medical devices, get searched, and dress appropriately. If you need to know what to wear and what is not allowed, the information below will help. These garments are not allowed:
- Orange clothing
- Clothing that is see through
- Hoods, scarfs, or hats
- Suit coats,
- Shirts with messages or inappropriate symbols
- Alluring, revealing, or suggestive clothing
You must have valid identification to be allowed to visit an inmate. Children are allowed, under the age of 18 with an adult. They need proper identification as well. Only one child is allowed per adult.
Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursday are the visiting days. The visits start at 7:30 am to 10:30 on Mondays and Thursdays. There are four breaks from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm, 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and 5:15 pm to 6 pm. On Tuesdays, visits are 7:30 am to 2:30 pm with one break from 11:30 to 1:00. Sign up twenty minutes to a half an hour before the visit time and, at least, forty five minutes before the end of the visit time. The lobby will be closed during the breaks.
The visits are for one hour only and the inmate is allowed either one or two visits each week.
Clothing for court may be exchanged or dropped off Monday to Friday between 7 am and 2:15 pm with a break from 11:15 to 12:30 when it won’t be allowed. These are the only times. Only one outfit is allowed in court or two if the inmate is on trial. No orange clothing is allowed. The outfit includes pants with not metal attachments, shirts with no logos or hoods, dress, two or three piece suit with not clip on ties or belts, coats or jackets between October and March. Clothes cannot be sprayed with perfume or cologne.
You can send a clothing package to the inmate from a company that provides these services. It must come directly from one of these companies. Clothing package that is acceptable include:

- 6 white briefs
- 6 white T-shirts with no pockets
- 3 white bras with no underwire or bones
- 6 white panties
- 6 white T-shirts
