Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center is located in Muskogee County Georgia at7700 Chattsworth Road Midland, GA. The facility is a detention center for juvenile inmates and can hold 68 people.
The youth detention center provides temporary, secure care and supervision to youths who have been charged with crimes or who have been adjudicated of crimes and are currently waiting for disposition of their cases by a juvenile court. Juveniles who are turned over to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice are often held in a secure detention while awaiting assignment in one of DJJ’s treatment programs or facilities. The facility also provides educational programs, separate and individual guidance and counseling, medical services, recreation, and arts and crafts. In addition to programs the facility offers youths clothing, meals, and emergency medical and dental care are a portion of the detention center’s standard care program.
Parents and guardians are the most important and valuable part of a youth’s development and rehabilitation. The facility urges parents and guardians to be involved in their child’s future and help their children succeed. Studies show that the primary influence for a youth comes from a stable family or home environment. However, some families are not able to function due to abuse, neglect, substance abuse, and lack of care by the parents or guardians in the children’s lives. Environments like this can affect a child’s behavior. Also, families may live in neighborhoods that have bad influences and other delinquents, odds are better that the peer pressure will ultimately eat away at a youth’s resolution to go beyond violence and crime and instead will eventually succumb to the crime. Moving a child out of a neighborhood in which you live is not always an option for some families, but there are other avenues to look to like programs to help.
Parents and guardians may contact the Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center at 706-565-4374, to get information about where your child is staying for visitation days and hours.
