The Marion County jail is located in the sheriff’s department at 280 Winchester Dr. in Hamilton Alabama. The jail was built in 1979 and can hold eight six offenders. There are several offices inside the jails facility which include the Sheriff Office, Dispatch, Chief Deputy, Investigator, and the Marion County Emergency Management Agency.

Visitation at Marion County Jail

Only one visitor is allowed to visit an inmate at a time at the Marion County Jail. If the weather is suitable for outdoor visitation, then two visitors will be authorized at a time per inmate. If the visitation has to be inside the facility, then there is a limitation of one visitor per side. In addition to the rule of one visitor per inmate, visitation is also limited to thirty minutes per time. If the visitor is a former inmate of the Marion County facility, they must have been bonded out of jail for a minimum of thirty days. Every visitor that wants to see an inmate must wear appropriate clothing. Certain clothing must not be worn such as sleeveless shirts, pants and skirts must come below the knee, and mid-drift must be covered. If you sign in to visit with an inmate and that visit ends, then you may not have visitation with a different inmate that day. If you sign in to see a male inmate, you will not be allowed to visit with a female inmate when your visit ends. You must keep your hands to yourself at all times. Visitors are not allowed to hug or touch inmates in any way. You cannot cross or touch the tape barrier that will be between you and the inmate. Inmates and visitors must maintain appropriate language and volume. No yelling or cursing is allowed visitation will be terminated if any of the rules is broken. No cell phones, handbags, tobacco or weapons are allowed. No packages will be given during visitation; visitors must wait until after visitation to receive property. Visitation hours are as follows:

Trustee Visitation: 12:00 – 1:30 pm

Commissary Information for Marion County Jail

Money can be given for inmates will be accepted on Sunday during visitation & Mon-Fri 8-5pm. Inmates are allowed to visit the store inside the jail on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. If you cannot visit during visitation, you may mail money orders only in.
